PLANO — A spreading sickness is creating concern at an assisted living center in Plano.
Brian Collins, the city's director of environmental health, confirmed that about 40 residents, staff and visitors at The Waterford at Plano, 3401 Premier Drive, have contracted what appears to be a type of viral illness.
"City staff are working with Collin County Health Services and staff at The Waterford to mitigate disease transmission and determine the source of illness," Collins said in a written statement.
While this is not a life-threatening illness, Collins said "the population at risk at Waterford commands immediate response."
He said tests are under way to determine the source of the illness, and steps are being taken to mitigate its transmission.
