DALLAS — A Dallas County Schools bus with two children on board crashed through a gate and struck three other vehicles before careening into an apartment building in East Oak Cliff late Tuesday afternoon.

Ambulances took an adult and a child to hospitals for treatment.

Investigators said the bus smashed through a gate at the apartment complex in the 3000 block of East Ledbetter Drive, then hit a Jeep with people in it. The bus careened to the right, struck a large trash receptacle, bounced off two parked vehicles and crashed into the apartment building.

"The bus was out of control," said Malicia Dunbar, who saw what happened. "The brakes... I guess she tried to stop. And then they say she had a seizure. I don't know which one it was."

The bus punched a hole in the side of the two-story brick apartment building and became wedged inside. Five family members were inside the apartment, but they were not hurt.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation..
