Teen who sexually abused baby won't go to prison

A Iowa teen who sexually abused a 1-year-old in 2014 was not sentenced to time in prison.

Kraigen Grooms, now 19, posted photos of himself performing sex acts with the baby to a child pornography website two years ago, according to a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement statement that originally asked for help locating him after the incident.

Grooms, who pleaded guilty to engaging in a lascivious act with a child, on Monday received a 10-year suspended sentence and five years' supervised release, Wapello County Attorney Gary Oldenburger told KTVO.

Grooms had been in custody before he pleaded guilty, KTVO reports.

He originally faced up to 25 years in prison after being charged with felony sex abuse, according to The News & Observer.

Grooms will be registered as a sex offender for life.

Since the sentencing, a petition has been started on whitehouse.gov asking that Judge Randy DeGeest be fired.
