HOUSTON -- If you’re the kind of person who hates to dine alone, a new app from Grubwithus is for you. “GrubTonight” launched in the Apple App Store earlier this week.
It sends out an alert everyday at 10 a.m. with a daily dining deal of sorts, kind of like Groupon. If you like the food, you can buy a seat at the table for a flat price. Tax, tip, food, and the first drink are all included.
Here’s the unique thing about it: when you get to the restaurant, you’re seated with others who also bought into the GrubTonight deal. Yes, you can buy a seat for a friend to come with, but the overall idea is to make new friends.
Grubwithus has been around for a couple of years, and already there are several groups of people with common interests in Houston that meet up: those who like Chinese food, those looking for love, those who like to talk politics, and so on. GrubTonight as a daily offering, however, is new. Right now, it’s only available in California, but its makers promise its expanding to other cities soon. The more people who download it, the better.
(And restaurant owners will probably want to check it out, too. It’s a good way to promote your business!)
