HOUSTON – An ad agency in Nashville has created a camera for use in businesses that automatically recognizes your face, checks you in on Facebook, and then offers you discounts.
The system, which requires Facebook users’ authorization, is called Facedeals. As part of the authorization process, Facebook users must supply a recent photo.
After you approve it to link up with your Facebook account, the next time you walk into a restaurant or business that has the Facedeals camera, it’ll ID you and offer you deals.
While the camera is bound to raise some privacy concerns, its makers say the device is strictly opt-in, and it is not directly tied into the Facebook website.
Facedeals is undergoing testing in Nashville.
