OVERTON, Texas -- A medical official said an accident related to a holiday parade in the East Texas town of Overton has left at least nine people hurt.
John Moore, a spokesman with Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler, said that eight people were being evaluated Monday night at the facility. He said the injured included three women and five boys, ranging in age from 7-11. He was also told that another injured person had been flown by medical helicopter to Dallas.
Witnesses at the scene said that a couple of the children were cub scouts. They said that an elderly man plowed through a group of kids and adults getting ready for the parade.
We have no further details on the conditions of the nine victims.
Overton is a town of about 2,300, located 120 miles southeast of Dallas.
