Figure in Texas polygamist ranch raid due back in court
01:57 PM CDT on Wednesday, October 8, 2008
CASTLE ROCK, Colo.—A woman considered a person of interest in phone calls that may have triggered a raid on a Texas polygamist compound is returning to court in Colorado in an unrelated case.
Rozita Swinton faces a probation revocation hearing in Douglas County District Court Wednesday in connection with her 2007 guilty plea to a false reporting charge. She faces up to a year in jail.
Separately, Swinton faces another false reporting charge in El Paso County, Colo.
Authorities say a phone number linked to Swinton was used to make calls to a Texas crisis center that may have led authorities to raid a ranch owned by the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ near the West Texas town of Eldorado.
Those calls are being investigated as a possible hoax.
