LAREDO, Texas—Federal agents in Laredo seized a statue of Jesus Christ they say is made of cocaine.
According to The Houston Chronicle, the statue was made out of as much as six pounds of the lethal drug in paste form and could be worth as much as $30,000 on the streets.

The illicit art even had flowing hair and a gold cape painted on it.
Investigators told The Chronicle the statue was seized from a woman who was crossing the border. They said drug dogs sniffed the statue out.
The woman said a man had paid her $80 to carry the statue into the States and drop it off at a bus station in Laredo.
She claimed she didn’t know what the statue was made of and took drug agents along when she went to the bus station.
There, police arrested Bernardino Garcia-Cordova, 61. He later admitted the statue was his.
Investigators believe if the plan had worked, dealers would have broken the statue down in water, sifted the cocaine through a strainer and let it dry before selling it on the streets.
