Pushing for an abuse registry
05:04 PM CST on Thursday, February 22, 2007
Reports indicate 28 percent of women killed in Texas die at the hands of their boyfriend or husband.
But now a Texas lawmaker wants to give women the tools to find out if the person they’re dating is really who they think they are.
Representative Joaquin Castro of San Antonio is proposing the State Institute of Domestic Abuse Registry.
It would be similar to the state’s sex offender registry.
Repeat offenders would be listed in a database for anyone to see.
