BAYTOWN, Texas—Monday was the start of a devastating new week for students and teachers after a Sterling High School teen was killed in a crash over the weekend.
Sixteen-year-old Shawn Williams was riding in a car that got struck by two suspects fleeing from police in a chase Friday night.
The 17-year-old driver of that car was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
Police say around 10:15 p.m., they tried to stop a man and women who were shoplifting inside the Sears at San Jacinto Mall when the suspects took off in their truck.
The suspects allegedly rammed a police car and several officers had to jump out of the way to avoid being hit. After a short chase, the driver crashed into two other cars on Garth and Rollingbrook.
The suspects, 35-year-old Jennifer Jenkins and 43-year-old Shannon Joe Chauncey, were arrested at the scene.
