True 'hip-hop' beats echoed through La Villita Sunday at the International Accordion Festival, in the heart of downtown San Antonio. Locals and tourists were treated to the sounds of classic polka music being belched out by accordions and tubas, underneath a slight drizzle and warm sun. Musicians from all over the world, including a few with roots in South Texas, played a wide range of music -- one group featured exotic blends of Tejano, rap and jazz -- all while paying tribute to the 'slinky-like' instrument called the accordion.
