HOUSTON -- Houston Rockets players Dwight Howard and Aaron Brooks provided the opportunity for Houston area children to meet them on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014 at West Oaks Mall.
Fresh off a win over the Knicks, both players signed t-shirts for the first 500 children at Valenti, a stylish men’s clothing store located next to Macy's.
"They have some really trendy suits," said Lauren McMillan. "I'm going to have to pick something out for my husband."
Rockets fan Rebecca Aggigera waited in line at 9 a.m. to meet two of her favorite players.
“I wanted to be the first one in line,” Aggigera said. “I’m a big Rockets fan.”
Fans were dressed in Rockets jerseys, hats and held on to their sports memorabilia to be signed.
“I brought a poster to get signed by Dwight Howard,” said Terrell Jackson. “He’s my favorite player.”
Howard and Brooks signed autographs for more than an hour and posed for a few pictures with their fans. Many of the eager fans opted to take “selfies” as they rushed the line so that everyone would have the opportunity to meet both players.
“This is me, giving back and having fun with fans,” Howard said. “The best way to reach children is by spending time with them and it will impact them for life.”
