'Carne-sseurs' were in hog heaven at Meatopia Texas in San Antonio, on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013. Carnivores descended upon the Pearl Brewery to devour the buffet of gourmet meats and wine pairings. The menu featured items like pork-fried rice -- straight from the streets of New York -- basted lamb ribs, whole pigs, char-grilled-chicken glazed with a spicy curry sauce and, by far, the sexiest cuts of prime rib, cured in a salt-pepper-thyme rub. Over 32 chefs from around the country talked spices, method and madness with the never-ending lines of hungry patrons. Music and Coronas helped mellow the excitement as the smell of burning oak reached up to greet downtown with smokey kiss. Meatopia "has been acclaimed as 'a meat-lover's paradise' (New York Magazine), 'spectacular' (Esquire), a 'bacchanal of pork, beef, lamb, chicken, duck , turkey and quail' (New York Times), and 'a glorious city of meat' (Huffington Post)," the Pearl website read.
