HOUSTON – The once-defaced mural of President Barack Obama across from a midtown restaurant is back, and it has a new look.
Artist Reginald Adams and his team worked all night Wednesday to complete the new design. It portrays a more recent shot of the president along with his 2012 campaign slogan.
“The mural never went away,” said the restaurant’s owner, Marcus Davis. “Hope never went away. The hope is the foundation to this piece. It’s still under there. It’s still supporting this piece. It’s just that hope has transcended.”
The previous presidential mural, located on a building owned by the Breakfast Klub, had red paint splashed on it over the weekend.
Police said they have surveillance video of the vandalism in action, and they hope this will help lead them to the criminal behind it.
