Clinton shares thoughts on Syria at fundraiser in Houston

Hillary Clinton at a luncheon in Houston took the opportunity, speaking in front of a sold out crowd, to comment on recent events in Syria.

Hillary Clinton visited Houston Friday for a fundraiser for Annie’s List, an organization that promotes women in Texas politics.

She took the opportunity, speaking in front of a sold out crowd, to comment on recent events in Syria.

Clinton addressed President Donald Trump’s decision to launch a missile strike on Syrian forces for using chemical weapons against civilians.

“The action taken last night needs to be followed by a broader strategy to end Syria’s Civil War and to eliminate ISIS strongholds on both sides of the border,” Clinton said.

During her 30-minute speech, Clinton called on the audience to hold those in power accountable.

“We cannot in one breath speak of protecting Syrian babies, and in the next, close America’s doors to them,” she said.

The former Secretary of State also took on several other big issues during her speech including healthcare, women’s rights and the role of women in the 2018 election.

A spokesperson for Annie’s List said the luncheon raised approximately $1 million Friday.
