MIDLAND, Texas -- Mitt Romney made a quick stop in Houston Tuesday to pass the hat among his supporters in an effort to garner more funds for his Republican presidential campaign.
The presumptive GOP presidential nominee attended a fundraiser at the Houstonian Hotel at noon.
Romney then headed to Midland for a $10,000-per-couple photo opportunity, followed by a $2,500-per-person reception at Midland’s Petroleum Club.
The former Massachusetts governor will cap his evening with a $50,000-per-person dinner at a private residence in Midland.
Republicans will gather in Tampa, Fla., in a week to nominate their presidential standard-bearer, who presumably will be Romney.
Democrats will be in Charlotte, N.C., in the first days of September to nominate President Barack Obama for a second term.
