AUSTIN —Devon Anderson, Mike Anderson’s widow, was sworn in Thursday as district attorney of Harris County.
Gov. Rick Perry appointed Devon Anderson district attorney of Harris County on Tuesday.
Mike Anderson passed away earlier this month after a brief battle with cancer. Devon Anderson is an attorney and former partner of Anderson and Thomas PLLC. She is also former judge of the 177th Judicial District Court and a past assistant district attorney for Harris County.
Anderson will hold the office until the next general election in 2016.
“I feel tremendously blessed to have the opportunity to finish what he started, to continue to restore integrity to the office and to make this office a place where prosecutors across the country will look to Harris County for leadership, for inspiration and best practices,” she said.
Devon Anderson received a bachelor’s degree and a law degree from the University of Texas.
