HOUSTON -- Even though they are telling pollsters they are likely to vote in the Dec. 12 runoff election, an 11 News / KUHF Houston Public Radio poll reveals that a large number of Houstonians remain undecided in several key races.

In the race for Controller, City Council members M.J. Khan and Ronald Green are locked in a three-point race, with a margin of error of plus or minus 4.4 percent. According to the poll, Green has 25 percent of the vote, and Khan has 22 percent. Forty-six percent of likely voters are undecided, and six percent refused to tell pollsters who they planned to vote for.

Civil Engineer Stephen Costello holds a narrow advantage over Realtor Karen Derr in the race for the open At Large Position 1 race. In the poll, Costello has 18 percent support, and Derr receives 14 percent. Sixty-one percent of likely voters are uncommitted.

Incumbent City Council member Sue Lovell has 17 percent of the vote in her At Large Position 2 runoff against Andrew C. Burks, Jr., who receives 12 percent support among self-described likely voters. Sixty-five percent of likely voters still have not decided.

Incumbent City Council member Jolanda Jones is in a runoff with chiropractor Jack Christie. In the poll, Jones holds 28 percent support, and Christie has 22 percent. Forty-five percent of likely voters are undecided.
