HOUSTON -- Police are investigating the brutal attack of a young mother who was allegedly stabbed multiple times by her estranged husband.
It happened just before 11 a.m. Thursday in southwest Houston in the 9100 block of Hendon Lane.
“The estranged husband broke the back window, came in and grabbed the wife and stabbed her, and the sister was trying to pull her away,” said neighbor Donna Fain. “She said he was too strong, and he wouldn’t let go of her, so she grabbed all four of the kids and ran out of the house.”
Police said the stabbing continued outside.
“He stabbed her multiple times in the upper torso in the driveway of the residence,” said Houston police Sgt. Brian Jordan.
“Three of the four kids in the house were hurt with glass,” said Fain. “They had cuts and abrasions, and she went away in the ambulance. He stabbed himself in the abdomen. The police arrested him and took him away in an ambulance.”
The victim, 19-year-old Illiana Noyola, and her estranged husband were both taken to Ben Taub Hospital. Both are expected to survive.
Noyola gave birth to her youngest child just two weeks ago.
On some levels, neighbors aren’t surprised of what happened on Thursday. They said the couple had a history of domestic violence, and that police were routinely called to the home.
“There’s been a police car here every day for the last 10 days,” said Fain.
