HOUSTON – Police are searching for the person who is responsible for vandalizing a public art project in the Heights this past weekend.

Volunteers had installed colorful panels made of yarn in a metal frame near a running trail in the 1600 block of Heights Boulevard.

"Yarn bombing" is a popular form of art usually done in the dark of night.

Witnesses reported seeing a woman ripping down the squares around 6 p.m. on Saturday.

Investigators estimate that approximately $10,000 in damage was caused by the unidentified vandal.

Anyone with information about the identity of the suspect is asked to contact Crime Stoppers of Houston at (713) 222-TIPS (8477).
