HOUSTON -- Investigators are trying to determine what caused a fire to break out at a southwest Houston apartment complex Friday night.

It happened around 8:45 p.m. Friday at Brickhaven Apartments located in the 8900 block of Fondren Road near Wanda Lane.

Officials said it was a close call for one woman who had to be rescued from her second-story apartment. She tried to go down the stairs, but said the stairwell was filled with flames. Firefighters used a ladder to get her down. She was not injured.

Fire investigators are on scene trying to figure out what started the blaze.
