Woman in ejected from car after vehicle hits police unit on Hwy. 59

SUGAR LAND, Texas – Traffic was backed up on Highway 59 early Saturday after a car hit a police unit parked on the side of the road in Sugar Land, police said.

According to the Sugar Land Police Department, an officer had stopped a vehicle near Costco when another vehicle carrying four people struck the patrol car.

The accident happened at 4 a.m. in the 17500 block of Highway 59.

A woman in car that hit the patrol unit was ejected and was taken by Life Flight to a local hospital with a critical head injury.

No one else was hurt.
