GRIMES COUNTY, Texas – Wildfires that burned for days in Grimes County and blackened a large section of land were 90--percent contained Friday, according to the Grimes COunty Emergency Management Coordinator.
A command center was set up in C.R. 306 in Stoneham.
Stoneham residents said it brought back bad memories from raging wildfires that happened two years ago in the area.
“I’m a nervous wreck,” said Linda Scheidler. “I lost everything.”
The current fire has not done as much damage as the fire in 2011 and was under control by Wednesday.
Firefighters will continue to monitor the area over the weekend.
NO homes, structures or roads were ever affected.
