SAN ANTONIO -- A vigil was held Saturday for the University of the Incarnate Word student shot and killed by a campus police officer last week.
The candlelight vigil for Cameron 'Cam' Redus took place in the UIW Lourdes Grotto auditorium. People attending wore green ribbons in honor of the young man.
Redus was shot and killed early-Friday morning during a traffic stop, after police said he attacked the responding officer near the Treehouse Apartments off Broadway Street.
Corporal Chris Carter shot the 23-year-old student several times because he feared for his life, according to the Alamo Heights Police Department.
"Everyone I know loved him," UIW student-body president, Jonathan Guajardo, said. "He was just a really, really, special person."
