HOUSTON -- Vice President Joe Biden's son, Beau, was in Houston on Tuesday to undergo medical tests at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.

Air Force 2 was still parked at Ellington Field on Tuesday evening.

The Bidens enjoyed some family time Monday night at D'Amico's Italian Market Cafe in Rice Village.

"Oh my God, it was a lot of fun. It was real exciting," Nash D'Amico said. "Secret Service came in and said -- we got about a 10 to 15 minute warning."

The Bidens had a party of 15. D'Amico graciously rearranged some customers to accommodate the VIPs.

"They were in for spicy last night," D'Amico said. "They said they loved the food. It was awesome."

One diner told us she is actually glad she was not there when the Bidens came in.

"I'm thinking a little bit of privacy at a time of personal concern. I think he was here as a father, not as a politician," diner Dee Pipes said Tuesday.

By all accounts, Beau Biden, the attorney general of Delaware, looked well.

"He was in--he looked great, very, very happy to be here and be part of the gang and we just had a big time," D'Amico said.

Nash D'Amico did wonder about one thing.

"I said, 'Where did you get our name from?'" he asked the vice president.

"You know,  I think that they said something -- the Secret Service had gotten a recommendation," D'Amico's daughter and co-owner Brina said. "Maybe from the hotel they were at. I'm not really sure."

The Biden's visit has certainly served up some publicity for the local eatery.

"We just get to enjoy it and keep...pushing pasta," Brina D'Amico said.
