MEGA BAILE con BOMBON to help raise funds for the 63rd Annual Holiday Parade presented by H-E-B and the Houston International Festival

HOUSTON--On Friday, October 19, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., the Houston Festival Foundation presents MEGA BAILE con BOMBON, Houston’s Hottest Tropical Dance Party - Supersized. For the first time, the organization will transform its eastern downtown Warehouse into a stylish, Latin-inspired dance hall with furniture donated and staged by IKEA Houston. The Parade Warehouse is located at 3603 Clinton Drive, in one of Houston’s most emerging, urban areas.

Houston’s beloved Holiday Parade, presented free to the public in Downtown Houston and syndicated last year in 15 markets carries a hefty price tag of over $300,000 to produce and promote. The non-profit organization, Houston Festival Foundation depends on fundraisers like this, the support of our sponsors and limited ticket sales to fund the seasonal tradition.

“We’re thrilled about this charitable partnership with Houston Festival Foundation, and looking forward to turning our Bombón monthly into a mega special event. Our fan base seems to be growing, so we love the idea of doing it even bigger to accommodate a diversity of people and age groups,” said Gracie Chavez, DJ/co-founder of Bombón.

Bombón Houston consists of DJ’s Gracie Chavez, Navó, OG Bobby Trill and Panchitron, who host monthly tropical dance parties at Fox Hollow located in the Heights area. The upcoming collaboration with the Festival Foundation will be a “Supersized” version of their monthly parties. MEGA BAILE con BOMBON will feature a diverse mix of Latin dance styles, from Cumbia and Salsa to Moombahton, Tribal and Baile Funk. Some of Houston’s favorite food trucks will be on the site and adult beverages will be available for sale. Guests must be 18 and up to attend and 21 years old to purchase alcoholic beverages.

“I’m excited to introduce both Bombon and the Parade Warehouse to an entirely new audience,” said Paul Pettie, Special Events Manager for the Houston Festival Foundation. “We have a great space, that most wouldn’t suspect is home to both the Holiday Parade Floats and the Houston International Festival props, year-round and Bombon has a great sound - the event will be a perfect combination.”

The Houston Festival Foundation produces both the 63rd Annual Holiday Parade presented by H-E-B on Thanksgiving morning and the Houston International Festival, which is held each spring. Combined, the events attract over 600,000 visitors from the Houston area and beyond and are constantly introducing fresh ideas to engage new audiences and loyal patrons.

“This will be a unique event open to patrons aged 18 and up,” said Kim Stoilis, President/CEO of the Festival Foundation. “Houston, as a city, is shifting. We’re excited about the continuous growth in our city and are doing our part to meet the entertainment needs of everyone. This includes dynamic evening programming in unusual spaces with dates that fall outside of our two signature events - the International Festival and the Holiday Parade. We’re proud to be able to program in Houston’s East Side and excited to share the diversity of local musicians and DJs at our fall fundraiser.”

The event will also feature a special appearance by Brazilian dancers in keeping with the theme of the 2013 Houston International Festival, which spotlights Brazil. Presale tickets are available online now for $8, and $10 at the door. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit www.bombonbaile.eventbrite.com.
