BAYTOWN, Texas -- Detectives say a 60-year-old man staggered into a Baytown motel overnight after being critically injured in a shooting outside.
Two unidentified women lured the truck driver to a Super 8 motel on Ellis School Road along the East Freeway. They were denied a room.
Lieutenant Eric Freed said a hotel employee believed the women were prostitutes.
The victim walked out and was shot twice behind the motel around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday by a man driving a yellow car, according to Baytown police.
The victim entered the motel’s lobby to ask for help. A worker behind the front desk called 911, and the man was sent to the hospital by Life Flight.
The shooter was not apprehended.
Investigators said no further information about the suspect or motive in the shooting was immediately available.
The victim is in serious condition and can barely talk to the detectives.
