HARRIS COUNTY, Texas—A disabled woman and her mom had a terrifying close call late Monday night when a truck crashed into their kitchen.

"I’m scared, shaken," said Blanca Vasquez. "The car coming, I scream and heard an accident."

It happened off of Brookhead Trail near Bammel North Houston in northwest Harris County around 8:45 p.m.

Investigators with Precinct 4 said a pickup driver was speeding when he ran a stop sign, hit another vehicle and crashed into the Vasquez home.

Blanca’s mother had just walked out of the kitchen when the truck smashed through the wall.

"Right into the kitchen, it actually stopped right at the stove. So had she been standing at the stove, she might not be here with us today," said Veronica Reyes, a relative.

When the dust cleared, Irma Vasquez realized her daughter was missing.

"I started screaming, ‘Blanca, Blanca, where are you? Where are you?’" said Irma Vasquez.

Blanca, who is mentally disabled, ran outside into the street because she was so frightened.

Fortunately, neither woman was hurt.

"My mother and my sister are the most important things and, yes, they are doing OK," Veronica Reyes said.

The home was heavily damaged so the mother and daughter are staying with relatives while repairs are being made.
