There is one week left to adopt the 30 Whiskerville Animal Sanctuary Inc. cats at the Galveston County Animal Resources Center in Texas City before the county is forced to euthanize them.
The staff does its best to house the homeless cats, but because the center serves the entire county, finding space for them all is a constant problem, said Kurt Koopmann, spokesman for the Galveston County Health District.
The health district warned this day was coming. The center will begin humanely euthanizing the remaining Whiskerville cats Aug. 22.
“We’d love to see them adopted,” Koopmann said. “The last thing we want to do is euthanize the cats.”
