Thousands of runners turn out for annual Heroes Run at Ellington Airport

HOUSTON – Thousands of runners turned out for the third annual Travis Manion Foundation 9/11 Heroes Run Saturday morning out at Ellington Airport.

The 5K race includes members from the military, Houston Police Department, Houston Fire Department and others simply running to pay tribute to those lost on 9/11.

The event has grown to more than 35 runs this year, including races in Iraq, Afghanistan, Guam, Italy, England and on a ship in the Persian Gulf.
