PEARLAND, Texas – Houston Texans linebacker Brian Cushing may be sidelined for the season with a knee injury, but he is still out doing good things in the community.

Cushing honored two stars in the classroom on Tuesday.

Cushing made his way on crutches through Dawson High School in Pearland to salute two winning teachers.

Troy Meyers and George McKendree were both nominated by students who wrote inspiring essays.

"We work hard,” Meyers said. “All the teachers in this school work hard and every once in a while it's nice just to know that you're appreciated."

An awards banquet is scheduled for the teachers in February.

They were also given signed Cushing jerseys. and tickets and sideline passes to Sunday’s game.

The students got autographed footballs from Cushing.
