FRIENDSWOOD — A grand jury has indicted a Friendswood woman accused of having marijuana in her car when she caused a collision that hurt two officers working a highway maintenance detail last year.

Bond for Laura Michelle Gonzales, 23, was set at $80,000 on two counts of aggravated assault, Sheriff Henry Trochesset said in a statement released Thursday. Gonzales’ arrest Thursday morning stemmed from an 11:45 p.m. June 7 collision in the northbound lanes of Interstate 45 just north of the Galveston Causeway.

Courtney L. Banks, of the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office, and James C. Heath, of the Hempstead Police Department, were providing off-duty traffic control in the center lane. Authorities allege Gonzales’ vehicle struck Banks’ sport utility vehicle from behind.
