Man surrenders after standoff in Sugar Land neighborhood

SUGAR LAND, Texas – A man was taken into custody a standoff with SWAT at his Sugar Land home Saturday afternoon, police said.

According to the Sugar Land Police Department, the 59-year-old man armed with a shotgun had locked himself inside his home located in the 3000 block of Monet. He is threatening to shoot anyone that comes near his home.

Police said that the man’s wife told them that her husband was having a manic episode.

The surrounding streets were closed off as law enforcement worked the scene.
