ROSENBERG, Texas – Police on Sunday were investigating a fatal crash that injured three teenagers and killed a 17-year-old girl.

It happened on Friday, April 20, 2012, around 7:44 p.m. in the 2700 block of Highway 59.

Police said an 18-wheeler was headed northbound when a Toyota Camry, driven by 18-year-old Vondre Ratcliff, tried to cross the northbound lanes at Cottonwood Church Road.

The big-rig broadsided the Camry, which came to a rest in the median.

There were three passengers in Ratcliff’s car at the time: 17-year-old Gabrielle Garcia, 16-year-old Savanna Perez and 16-year-old Brianna Castillo.

Garcia was pronounced dead at the scene. Ratcliff and Castillo were both seriously injured and airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital. Perez suffered only minor injuries and was transported via ground ambulance to Oak Bend Medical Center.

The truck driver, 58, was not injured.
