RICHMOND, Texas -- A large mulch fire that broke out Monday evening in Richmond continued to smolder early Tuesday.
The Richmond Fire Department was called to Highway 90 at Pitts Road around 6 p.m., officials said. They found a large mound of mulch that appeared to have combusted from the inside. High winds carried the fire to surrounding mounds.
No homes were believed to be in any danger.
It’s believed the mulch will continue to smoke for the rest of the day.
Investigators were trying to determine a cause for the blaze.
