HOUSTON – Many spectators came out Thursday for the public opening of Rice University’s James Turrell skyspace.
The event was a spectacle in the sky for those who got to see the sunset light show outside of the Shepherd School of Music.
Spectators were seated inside a pyramid-like structure that was designed by artist James Turrell.
The color changes on the ceiling could be seen from the outside. On the inside spectators said a 14- by-14-foot opening offered an optical illusion that made the sky turn different colors.
Reservations are now being accepted for future shows. The light show happens at both sunset and sunrise and it’s free.
