HOUSTON— Relatives of a woman whose body was found inside a car under Interstate 45 want to know why she was killed.

The badly decomposed body of Dora Lee Hughes, 28, was found Friday in a vehicle parked beneath the 18500 block of I-45 near Spring.

“It’s almost unbelievable,” said Bill Pierce, the victim’s grandfather. “It’s unbelievable that it would happen, but it has.”

Pierce, who lives in Tomball, said he last saw his granddaughter two Sundays ago when she said she was off to visit friends.

An official cause of death is pending the results of an autopsy, but detectives were investigating the case as a homicide.

Hughes planned to attend college one day, according to relatives.

They are devastated by her death and want justice.

“She hadn’t really lived yet,” said Pierce. “I just hope they find the ones who did this.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
