FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas – A Fort Bend County homeowner fought back against three intruders Monday near Arcola.

According to the Arcola Police Department, it happened on Ruffin Green Court, in a quiet subdivision. The sight of passing police squad cars and yellow tape were unusual in the neighborhood.

“It’s normally quiet and peaceful,” one neighbor said.

Unusual for everyone except one bystander; Arcola Police Chief David Tezeno is used to answering crime calls, but not like this.

“I got a call from my sister in response to somebody kicking in her back door, and she just happened to be chasing the guy,” said Tezeno.

That’s right, the chief’s sister was home alone when three intruders busted in, instead of running, she confronted them.

“She came outside with him,” said Tezeno. “Our family’s kinda like that. She’s not a quitter, she’s a fighter.”

The woman told KHOU11 she tussled with the three men, who she says all had guns, and ran them off her property.

Deputies contracted out to patrol the subdivision, through the Fort Bend County Precinct 1 Constables, then caught up with the suspect car a few blocks away. All three men are now in custody at the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office.

Tezeno is already planning a thank you to his fellow law enforcement, saying the deputy who caught the men, “Has a steak dinner coming, at least one.”

And he said his family’s close call is a reminder to the rest of us.

“We’re all potential victims, just have to watch your surroundings, pay attention because it can happen to any one of us, no matter who we are or what title we hold,” said Tezeno.

The chief said he wouldn’t recommend anyone else confront intruders if they do bust into your home.

The house across the street was broken into as well a couple weeks back, so neighbors there are on alert.

In this case the men only got away with a video game system that deputies recovered when they caught them.
