Police: Dickinson woman arrested for forging checks, ‘extravagant purchases’

SANTA FE, Texas -- Authorities said a Dickinson woman was arrested for stealing more than $250,000 from a a Santa Fe based business.

Santa Fe police said Michelle Lopez, 39, was arrested on March 20 on a felony warrant.

Her arrest comes after a two-week investigation into the theft of over $250,000 from Bolivar Barge Cleaning Services, according to police.

Authorities said Lopez is accused of forging numerous business checks and depositing them to her personal account. The proceeds of the theft were used by Lopez for “extravagant purchases.”

The search warrant executed at her home in the 1700 block of Cranston Grove Drive in Dickinson resulted in the recovery of a 2013 Dodge Challenger, several pieces of expensive jewelry, and numerous designer items.

Lopez is charged with Theft over $200,000 and is being held on a bond of $500,000.

She is currently on felony probation for an identical offense committed in 2005 at a La Marque business.

Santa Fe Police investigators were assisted by Dickinson Police detectives and agents of the Auto Crimes Task Force.
