HOUSTON - The state of Texas is trying to eliminate North Forest ISD and fold it into Houston ISD, but supporters of the school district aren’t going quietly.

On Saturday, demonstrators, led by parents and activists, marched to protest the closing. They say that while the all-minority district has had problems in the past, students are making progress.

The Texas Education Agency recently ordered NFISD to inform its teachers they will be losing their jobs. The district has so far defied that ordered.
