HOUSTON—The Daytripper film crew may have gotten more than they asked for when they called the Bay Area Houston Convention & Visitors Bureau for information about Kemah. Chet Garner, the energetic host of the popular PBS show, remembered going crabbing off the docks as a kid and wanted to do a segment of his show on Kemah.

The Bureau’s Director of Communications Michelle Quist encouraged him to come down and see what great strides Kemah had taken since then and, while he was here, not to miss everything else that Bay Area Houston had to offer.

Over the course of two trips, Bay Area Houston CVB helped arrange for The Daytripper to film popular attractions from the Bay Area Houston region such as the Kemah Boardwalk and Kemah’s Hoagie Ranch, League City’s Butler Longhorn Museum, Seabrook’s Pelican Trail and Tookies, Harris County’s Armand Bayou Nature Center, Galveston County’s Bubba’s Shrimp Palace, and Space Center Houston.

The filming was so successful that the Daytripper crew will premiere their new season with the Kemah episode, set to air on Houston PBS Channel 8 on Saturday, October 13th at 3:30PM. “This is an incredible promotion for our area, especially in our prime drive market for visitors,” says Bay Area Houston CVB President Pam Summers. “I’m excited for all of the Daytripper viewers to discover our Bay Area Houston region’s appeal as a family destination.”
