NEW CANEY, Texas – A 43-year-old mother was killed and three others were injured in a three-vehicle accident Friday morning in Montgomery County, state troopers said.
According the Texas Department of Public Safety, Stacie Milholen, of New Caney, was taking her two daughters, ages 16 and 6, to school just before 7 a.m. in their 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe.
Milholen turned west onto FM 1485 at Forest and as they approached Roadway Drive, a white van pulled out of a Valero gas station, investigators said.
Jacob Holcombe, 20, of Splendora, driving a 1994 Dodge Ram, was heading east when the van pulled out in front of him, investigators said. Holcombe was forced to take evasive action and ended up in a ditch.
Milholen had no time to brake as she slammed into the side of Holcombe’s truck, investigators said. The white van drove around the two vehicles and fled the scene heading east on FM 1485.
The 43-year-old mother died upon impact, investigators said. Her husband was informed of the accident and arrived at the scene before EMS arrived.
Sixteen-year-old Haylie Milholen was taken to Kingwood Hospital with a broken leg, while her 6-year-old sister Kasey Milholen is in stable condition at Kingwood Hospital.
Holcombe was transported to Memorial Hermann Northeast in Humble by the Montgomery County Hospital District. From there, he was airlifted to Hermann Hospital in the Medical Center in critical condition with multiple internal injuries including a ruptured spleen.
