RICHMOND, Texas—Troy E. Nehls defeated three other opponents for the Republican spot in the Fort Bend County Sheriff election.
Early predictions were that a run-off race would be necessary, because with four individuals in the race, for any one person to win 50 percent of the votes would be a difficult feat.
But in the end, Nehls won 55 percent of the votes. Kenneth Craig Brady was behind him with 34 percent, followed by Billy Frank Teague with 7 percent and John Minchew with 4 percent.
