HOUSTON --- Bellaire High School produced the winning video in Houston Mayor Annise Parker’s It Can Wait, Houston anti-texting campaign.

A total of 11 videos were submitted by students from high schools all over the city showing the dangers of texting while driving.

The mayor said it was important to get kids involved in the campaign.

“We can't keep running that PSA with Bun B over and over again, as much as I like it,” Parker said. “We wanted to find ways to reach young people in a language that their peers had created."

Memorial High School and Kingwood High School also placed in the contest.

All three videos will be promoted through social media.

The winning video will be used by Houston fire and police departments in safety presentations at area schools.

Winning videos: • Bellaire High School – 1st Place

• Memorial High School – 2nd Place

• Kingwood High School – 3rd Place feature=youtu.be
