MONTGOMERY COUNTY—Authorities in Patton Village say they have located the mother of the little girl who was found wandering alone Wednesday afternoon.

Patton Village police were called to the 17600 block of Main Street around 2 p.m. Wednesday. Upon arrival, a resident said that a 3-year-old girl wandered up and into the house and started playing.

The woman freaked out and said she began looking for the child’s parents and when she could not find them she called 911.

Officials said the only thing the little girl would say is “mama went walking.”

Authorities were interviewing the mother after she was located around 6 p.m.  Investigators said it appears the mother was at work and left the child with the dad, and the dad left the child with a 10-year-old babysitter.

Police couldn’t confirm that child’s relationship with the family.

The case was being forwarded to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office.

The 3-year-old child was placed with Child Protective Services.
