LEAGUE CITY — League City is the 68th safest city in America, according to a study of more than 430 cities by a Washington D.C. press.
The safest city in Texas was Allen, according to the study. League City was only a few spots below as the seventh safest city in the state.
The study ranked the cities using 2011 FBI data on murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary and motor vehicle theft.
The study was conducted by CQ Press, which published its yearly City Crime Rankings reference book in January. The book ranks the safest and most dangerous cities in the country with populations greater than 75,000.
League City, Galveston County’s largest city, was the only city in the county to make the list. The city’s 2011 population was 84,856, according to the United States Census Bureau. This was the first year League City was included in the study.
