LEAGUE CITY — City hall and the schoolhouse are teaming up in League City to turn practice fields at League City Elementary into a multiuse park.
Thanks to almost $551,000 in Community Development Block Grant funds, the city and Clear Creek school district will convert the two practice baseball fields at League City Elementary, 709 E. Wilkins St., into multipurpose fields with a learning center, play equipment and a skate plaza.
The district’s local match is $75,000, and school district trustees will likely award the construction contract at their Monday meeting. Once the contract is awarded, work can begin next month and be completed by June, said Paul Miller, Clear Creek school district’s director of facility services.
