League City votes to end red-light contract

League City’s red light cameras will be turned off and the city will stop issuing tickets today after the city council approved an agreement Tuesday to end the city’s camera contract.

Last year, the city’s residents voted to end the red-light camera program once its contract with Redflex Traffic Systems ran out in 2014.

But on Tuesday night, the city council unanimously approved an agreement to pay Redflex about $424,430 to end the camera contract by July — about a year and a half ahead of schedule.
