League City bucks 2012 crime trend

LEAGUE CITY, Texas—Violent episodes and reports of property crime dropped across the board in 2012 in Galveston County’s largest city when compared to the previous year, statistics show.

League City was also the only city in the county to show a decline in all seven categories of violent crime and property crime reported to the FBI.

Although it’s problematic to pinpoint any singular reason for fluctuations in the crime rate, League City police Chief Michael Kramm said the department did some things in 2012 to help the create downward trend, such as forming a Community Impact Unit.
