LEAGUE CITY — Redflex Traffic Systems has dropped its lawsuit against League City.

The company had filed a lawsuit over the city’s decision to put red-light cameras on the ballot.

The company filed a lawsuit in August in the 122nd District Court in Galveston County and claimed the ballot language the city was placing before voters was too vague, confusing and violated the company’s contract with the city.

Redflex Communications Director Jody Ryan had said the company preferred the city council, not the voters, have the final say on the cameras.

But League City voters did get their chance to weigh in. Voters were asked if they would like to “prohibit further renewal or deployment of photographic traffic enforcement systems on the city’s public rights of way when the contract with Redflex Traffic Systems, Inc. expires pursuant to its terms?”
